A little Madison magic

Take your time.
Make a connection.

Walk with WASD / arrow keys, or click or tap a place. Press E near a person, an object, or a booth. Combine two direction keys to walk diagonally. On a phone, use the eight direction buttons or tap the street.

Marked doorways lead to rooms you can explore. Walk up to a door and use E or the interaction button to step inside. Use the marked exit to return to the street.

Look for small strawberry signs on tucked-away homes. Strawberry offers a different Wisconsin side quest in each zone. Find its home on foot to reveal it on your map. Your notebook holds clues, quest progress, and earned medals.

J opens your notebook. M opens the map, where you can choose a destination for assisted walking. Escape closes a window.

Choose Sound: on in the menu for original 16-bit RPG music and sound effects. A lively tune follows your outdoor walk; a gentler theme welcomes you indoors. Music softens while you read, and audio pauses when you leave the game tab. Your sound choice is saved with your walk.

This first chapter is an imagined summer 2005 inspired by the Nick Weerts Memorial Phone Booth. Nick's pixel character is based on family-provided photos. Neighbors and missions are fictional. Today's map provides the geography; building appearances and period details are artistic interpretations.

The memorial booth at 209 Corry Street is the story's connection to the present. Its map position is approximate.
